Cincinnati Public Schools is making shots more accessible as the school year nears and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention announced new guidelines saying vaccinated students and vaccinated staff are no longer required to wear masks inside school buildings.

The CDC guidance was issued amid falling infection rates and hospitalizations. The guidance is meant to help keep kids in classrooms.

In January, teachers in the Cincinnati Public School district were among the first in the area to gain access to COVID-19 vaccines.

As of two weeks ago, 69 percent of staff members were fully vaccinated.

The board has not made the vaccine mandatory yet for those eligible and, right now, that includes people as young as 12 years old.

So, to make access to the vaccine easier, CPS is holding clinics at several schools throughout the month.

Kids can get their vaccine shot at:

  • Woodward Career Technical High School: July 12 and July 21
  • Roselawn Condon School: July 14 and July 21
  • Dater Montessori: July 16 and July 23

Families also have an opportunity to get a vaccine at the CPS summer block parties at Rees E. Price Academy on July 17 and at Carson School on July 31.
